Today on ‘Tickets @ 2′ it’s a Grammy winner for the Eagles, “Hotel California.”
In November of 2007, Don Henley appeared on 60 Minutes, where he was told everyone wants to know what this song means. “Henley replied: ” I know it’s boring, it’s a song about the dark underbelly of the American Dream, and about excess in America which we knew about.”
This won the 1977 Grammy for Record Of The Year, the band did not show up to accept the award, as Don Henley did not believe in contests. Timothy B. Schmit had just joined the band, and he says they watched the ceremony on TV while they were rehearsing.
The song was written by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Don Felder.
When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #10 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a 4-Pack of tickets to Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier for unlimited rides, courtesy of the Auto Club.
