Today’s ‘Tickets @ 2′ song is a home run out of the park # 1 from 1965, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones

The Stones were playing in Clearwater Florida while on their first U.S. tour, when rioting and chaos broke out at the show, police were called in to restore order. That night Keith Richards woke up in his hotel room with a guitar riff in his head, he recorded it on a portable tape recorder and went back to sleep. When he brought the tape into the studio a week later, the tape contained his riff and the sounds of him snoring, he forgot to turn off the recorder..

Mick Jagger said: “It sounded like a folk song when we first started working on it, and Keith didn’t like it much.” Richards ran his guitar through a Gibson Fuzz Box to create the distortion effect.

That’s where the line: “Invent a great guitar riff and you’ll never work a day in your life” came from.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller # 10 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to “Tchaikovsky Spectacular” this Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.
