On ‘Tickets @ 2′ it’s a Christmas Classic, “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole.
Mel Torme and Bob Were songwriting partners, and would take turns going to each others homes to write songs. One particularly hot July day, Mel drove over to Bob’s house in Toluca Lake.
Bob found a spiral note pad with some words on it – “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletide Carols being sung by a choir, folks dressed up like Eskimos.” Bob told Mel that “it’s so blistering hot, I thought it would be fun to write something about a totally different season.”
When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #7 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a 4-pack of tickets to enjoy ‘Grinchmas’ at Universal Studios Hollywood.
