This afternoon’s ‘Tickets @ 2′ song is “Double Vision” by Foreigner.

Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones and vocalist Loy Gramm wrote it after seeing New York Rangers goalie John Davidson get knocked out during the 1977 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jones said: “That’s where the title came from. We were at a hockey game. I was an avid Rangers fan in those days, Lou and I went to a game, and the goaltender for the Rangers got a concussion, and it was announced over the PA that he was taken off the ice suffering from double vision. That led to the song title.”

Davidson went on to become a popular broadcaster and hockey analyst. He and Jones have had a laugh over it several times since.

Mick Jones said it was received by many as a drug song, it wasn’t the intention, but that’s how a lot of people interpreted it.

I just saw Foreigner perform at the Antelope Valley Fair, they can still get it on!

When we play it between two and three we’ll ake lucky caller 13 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to be with us at K-EARTH 101′s BOO-GIE BASH starring KC & The Sunshine Band Friday October 25th at the Hollywood Palladium.
