This afternoon’s ‘Tickets @ 2′ song is “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” by McFadden & Whitehead from 1979.
Gene McFadden and John Whitehead were songwriters and producers who were working with some Philadelphia Soul bands in the ’70s.
McFadden & Whitehead wrote and produced the song with keyboard player Jerry Cohen. The also wrote “Bad Luck” for Harold Melvin and “Back Stabbers” for the O’ Jays. This however was their only solo hit.
Talk about bad luck, on May 11, 2004, Whitehead was shot to death while he was working on a car in Philadelphia. He was 55.
